I am a San Francisco Bay Area contemporary painter who works in a realistic style. I show the world using fresh angles and points of view to help us see familiar subjects with newly sharpened eyes.

I use a limited color palette to convey my own interpretation of my subjects, which include urbanscapes and a wide range of portraits: food, fish, and fowl, familiar animals and imaginary creatures. By careful attention to value, temperature, and hue, my work shows how light and atmosphere affect how we see.

My recent paintings (Loveable Canines) have been inspired by my own dogs, which were adopted from Marin Humane. I am also creating portraits of their Shelter Dogs as well as a few pups from my neighborhood. As I spend time getting to know these special characters, they reveal their unique personalities. My intention is to capture their spirit as I create mood and atmosphere, showing their rhythms and patterns of life.
