My greatest inspiration is the beauty and forms of nature. I’m intrigued with creating visual bridges between plants and humans, past and present, life and death. I love the challenge of translating inner states of feeling into physical form; recognizable images help me communicate more clearly to the viewer. From gouache on paper paintings to mixed media in an accordion book or ink drawings in a graphic book, choosing the best medium for the message fuels the versatility of my work. A small studio with little storage has inspired my exploration of the book form – intimate, sequential worlds that van be contained between two covers. Recent work includes “pull toy” art – mixed media constructions on wheels with moveable parts.
