Playing with paints” was the way I described my artwork for many years, finding time to sketch and paint only when on vacation, away from home and its day-to-day demands. Then I saw a photo in our local paper of an art show. Three women were standing in front of a wall of gorgeous watercolors of flowers. It took my breath away. From the article with the photo I found the name of Cara Brown, the mentor and teacher of a group of artists who called themselves 537 Magnolias. I called Cara and she warmly invited me to come join the group’s next session. That was 2015. I’ve painted with Cara and the Magnolias one to two days a week since that first meeting, in person or by Zoom.
