I document time and transformation by collecting, repurposing, and recombining materials. I explore the intrinsic qualities of materials and combine them to create new ways of looking. Hybrids of reclaimed wood and synthetics like foam and tapes are transformed from flat to undulating surfaces, creating new landscapes. My work is influenced by topography, geology, process, and chance.
I love the transformation process of reusing materials and reducing my carbon footprint. Chance and control jointly influence my work. Working with what materials I have available and controlling how materials are used become part of my work.
The forms and processes in my work are metaphors for personal transformation. My adult life is a journey of learning and discovery, both artistic and personal. I correct what is broken, remove what is unnecessary, and trust the process.
