These days of transformation through difficulty have been fertile for me, as an artist. Over the past 2 years, I have spent time in my garden, walking in nature and feeling the discomfort of our common experience. It’s been a deep dive into my creativity. My first response to lockdown was to paint wild, vibrant florals to bring beauty back into a dark world. I have always needed to turn my experience into a visual expression; emotional moments create the need to make visible what is unseen. My newer series is an exploration into my inner world a place where dreams are born, where my history and experience blooms into the person I am in a constant state of becoming. My paintings evolve through a process of chance and intuition. I have a deep love of material, fabric, vintage paper, and paint. I sand, scrape, glue, add and subtract until I feel complete.
