Linda Wegmann is a contemporary abstract painter based in Sausalito CA. My work has evolved over 5 years painting, exploring color, properties of form and shape, lines, materiality, and spatial relationships and the interaction of all. The concept of ‘place’ and ‘being’ is a persistent theme in my work. I study the use of form to abstract and develop imaginary landscapes of where I live and where I’ve traveled. Fascinated by finding my way into these painting by the sense of being seen, not seen, memories of places I have been or have been in my mind. There is something about the ‘finding’ in the work, that I will continue to explore depicting environments that are whimsical in their re-imagining. Influenced by my deep attachment to northern California, my paintings communicate composition and structure while embodying its very dissolution.
